The Shih Tzu breed has been around for thousands of years. Known for it's big eyes and to some as a "little lion dog", the Shih Tzu is the perfect house companion. They are known for their short snouts , floppy ears and large eyes. Usually weighing 9 to 16 lbs and standing 8 to 11 inches they are surprising solid for dogs of their size. Their life span is 10-16 years.

They are spunky and especially affectionate with children and make great lap dogs and don't require a large yard.

They do come in several different colors; black, white, black & white, brindle, liver & white, light brown, dark brown, blue and gold.
